Best Food Supermarket: One Year of Flavor & a Brand New Butcher!

From Empty Shop to Spice Central

Remember that empty shop on Regent Street? A year ago, Ajanthan Matkuman transformed it into Best Food Supermarket after a two-month renovation frenzy. On February 11th, he opened the doors to his dream: a vibrant store packed with the tastes of India and Sri Lanka.

What’s On the Shelves? 🛒

Forget ordinary groceries! Best Food specializes in hard-to-find ingredients from South Asia. Think aromatic spices, unique lentils, flavorful sauces, plus super fresh fruit and veggies. It’s a total game-changer for anyone wanting to cook authentic curries or traditional dishes at home.

Anniversary Surprise: Meet Meat Wala! 🥩

To celebrate their first birthday, they’ve just launched “Meat Wala” right at the back of the shop. Yep, that’s a dedicated section for fresh meat and fish! The opening day was buzzing, and Ajanthan’s stoked about the positive response.

Owner’s Vibes: “It’s Going Better Than Expected!”

Ajanthan’s super happy with Year One: “It’s been very good… going even better than expected! Building a business takes time, but customer feedback has been awesome.” He admits seeing other town centre shops close is worrying, but Best Food has a special draw: “People come here specifically for us, telling us they visit the centre more often because of our shop.”

Why Swindon? Why Town Centre?

Swindon won Ajanthan over with its friendly locals. He picked Regent Street for two big reasons:

1. Mega foot traffic – loads of people walk past!

2. Convenient parking nearby made it easy for customers.

Plus, grabbing that empty unit was his golden opportunity!

The Secret Sauce: Quality, Price & Cleanliness

Ajanthan knows standing out takes effort: “We have so many unique products at good prices. It’s a supermarket with a difference, and we have to do something more.” His focus is crystal clear: top-notch quality, fair prices, and keeping everything sparkling clean. Worker Monisha backs this up: “People are so excited and happy to have the shop here.” So much so, they opened on Day One even with queues forming and stock still being priced!
