Swindon Town Fans Unite for Derby Day Boost

Swindon Town is in the middle of a heated promotion race in League Two, and this weekend brings a local derby against Bristol Rovers. Both teams need the win—Swindon to climb the table and Rovers to avoid relegation trouble.

Why the Atmosphere Needs a Jumpstart

The Nigel Eady County Ground has been talked about all season, but lately, the energy hasn’t been matching the team’s push. Even with Swindon sitting fifth and just four points behind league leaders Bromley, crowds have been dropping instead of growing as the season heats up.

A Fan’s Plan to Make Noise

James Rees, a supporter since 2003 who usually hangs out in the Town End, has had enough. He’s worked with TrustSTFC and the club to turn things around for Saturday’s 12:30 kick-off. His mission? Get the Town End packed and roaring.

Red and White Wall of Streamers

Rees has secured 250 red and 250 white streamers for fans to throw onto the pitch as the players walk out. The goal? Create a “red and white wall” that looks awesome and pumps up the team.

Bring Back the Flags and Scarves

He’s also bringing back old flags from groups like the Great Western Reds. Plus, he’s asking fans in the Don Rogers and Arkell’s Stands to bring their scarves for a massive visual display of support.

Rees’s Message: Let’s Make It Happen

“We need it now more than ever,” Rees told The Adver. “The atmosphere’s been lacking, and the attendances don’t show how high we’re aiming.”

He added: “I was chatting with the lads in the Town End, and we all feel that if we want promotion, we’ve got to be behind the boys 100%. Let’s get the place rocking like it used to—it’s brilliant when it’s loud!”

Why This Push Matters Now

Swindon has been stuck in League Two for five seasons, including their lowest-ever finish. Rees is fed up and wants action. “I’m so done with League Two—let’s get out fast,” he said. “I didn’t see anyone else stepping up online, so I figured I’d do it myself. If we pack the Town End and make noise, it can only help the players.”

Be Part of the Change

With promotion on the line and a derby against rivals who are fighting for their own survival, every bit of support counts. Rees hopes this spark will bring more fans through the gates and keep the momentum going all season. It’s time for Swindon Town to show what their crowd can do.
