Police Issue Urgent Warning After Taxi Robbery in Lancashire

Lancashire Police have issued a stark public safety alert, urging residents not to approach a 25-year-old man sought in connection with a violent robbery that targeted a taxi driver. The warning follows a distressing incident in Clayton-le-Woods on the morning of Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

Details of the Knifepoint Robbery

According to the police investigation, the incident began when a passenger, who gave the name ‘Jamie,’ was picked up from Birch Field in Clayton-le-Woods. During the journey, the passenger produced a knife and threatened the driver. The assailant then seized the driver’s mobile phone and, using a banking application on the device, stole £250. The suspect fled the scene near the junction of Garstang Road in Barton.

Suspect Description and Police Appeal

Officers are urgently seeking Leroy Teasdale in connection with the crime. Teasdale is known to have links to the areas of Bamber Bridge, Clayton-le-Woods, and Blackpool. A key identifying feature is a distinctive tattoo on his hand that depicts the word “Faith” alongside an image of a bird.

A spokesperson for Preston Police emphasized the critical nature of the public’s role, stating: “If you have seen Teasdale or know where he could be please don’t approach him but call us on 999.” Authorities have classified the investigation as a top priority, underscoring the need for a swift and safe resolution to protect the community.

Members of the public with any information, no matter how small, are strongly encouraged to contact Lancashire Police directly or reach out anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers. Providing timely tips is essential for locating the suspect and preventing further incidents.
