Wiltshire Flood Alert: Heavy Rain Causes Chaos

Soggy Friday Soaks Already Drenched County

Wiltshire got absolutely drenched again this Friday (Feb 13th), adding to weeks of relentless wet weather across the region. Just when you thought it couldn’t rain more, heavy downpours hit large parts of the county.

Icy Twist Coming Overnight

Hold onto your hats – the rain’s swapping out for freezing temperatures! Expect icy conditions to hit early Saturday morning (Valentine’s Day, Feb 14th). Roads and paths could become super slippery.

New Flood Warnings Issued

The Environment Agency isn’t taking chances. They’ve slapped fresh flood alerts across Wiltshire, meaning flooding is possible in several areas:

River Avon on High Alert

Residents living near the River Avon – stretching from Bradford on Avon up to Malmsbury – need to stay alert. This includes folks in:

  • Melksham
  • Chippenham

Weekend Risk: River Levels Could Climb Again

Right now, river levels are sky-high but slowly dropping. Don’t relax yet though. An Environment Agency spokesperson warned: “More rain is forecast tomorrow and through the weekend, so rivers could easily rise again.”

Key Advice from the Experts:

  • Flooding remains possible throughout tatto
  • Avoid low-lying footpaths near rivers or streams
  • Steer clear of bridges over watercourses
  • The Agency is monitoring closely and will update alerts if things worsen

The Big Numbers: Warnings & Alerts

The scale is massive:

  • 33 Active Flood Warnings (Flooding EXPECTED) across Wiltshire and nearby areas
  • 30 Flood Alerts (Flooding POSSIBLE) after the latest additions

That’s a whole lot of water to keep an eye on! Stay safe and keep updated with official alerts.
