Doctor ‘won’t fly EasyJet’ as she is denied flight over baggage

NHS Doctor Booted Off Flight After Hand Luggage Spat

The Bag That Started It All

Dr. Vana Katsomitrou was heading from London to Alicante for a quick holiday with just her backpack. At Luton Airport, an EasyJet worker stopped her, saying her bag was too big for cabin rules. Vana insists she proved it fit “comfortably” in the sizing box after removing her denim jacket.

A Touch That Changed Everything

Things got messy when Vana lightly tapped the staffer’s arm to show the bag fit. The employee reacted loudly, shouting “Don’t touch me!” and accused Vana of harassment. Even though Vana apologized immediately and offered to pay the £60 baggage fee, airport staff refused to let her board her £160 flight.

Vana—an NHS doctor—was left behind while her flight took off. When she complained to EasyJet, they offered her just £13 back. The airline claimed their staff “felt threatened” by her behavior and wouldn’t reveal further details “for security reasons.”

Two Sides to the Story

EasyJet doubled down, saying passengers must follow baggage rules to be fair to others who pay extra. They admitted Vana’s bag did fit after she removed items, but accused her of being “disruptive” at the gate. Their spokesperson stated: “We do not tolerate abusive behavior toward our staff.”

Doctor’s Ultimatum

Vana denies any aggression, calling the staffer “unnecessarily aggressive” first. She’s sworn off EasyJet for good, vowing only to fly with them again in a “life or death” situation. For now, this baggage battle has left both sides standing firm.
