Massive Tree Crash Closes Bannerdown Road!
What Went Down?
Early Monday morning (February 16), a giant tree completely collapsed near Batheaston! It smashed through a brick wall before slamming onto Bannerdown Road – the key route connecting Batheaston and Colerne.
Traffic Trouble Alert!
This road is super important because it’s the daily access point to the A420 highway in/out of Wiltshire. As of Monday afternoon, the road remains totally blocked – cars can’t get through at all. Bath & North East Somerset Council is rushing to clear it ASAP.

No one got hurt – phew! But officials warn drivers: Avoid Bannerdown Road completely until further notice. Find alternate routes until cleanup finishes!
What’s Happening Now?
The Council confirmed: “Bannerdown Road in Batheaston is closed due to a fallen tree. Work to clear the obstruction is underway.” They added that anyone spotting similar hazards can report them directly through the Council’s official channels.
